Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Visyn Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, the company that makes Maita (“Maita”, “we”, “us”). They apply when you use the Maita and Maita Lite apps, the school portal, Maita Smart-Schools, our messages and this website. By using Maita you agree to them.

Schools: if your school has signed a separate agreement or accepted a quotation with us, that agreement applies to the school and takes priority over these terms where they differ.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and forms part of these terms.

• Anyone 18 or older can create an account.
• A learner under 18 may use Maita when registered by their school, or with the permission of a parent or guardian.
• School staff may only use the accounts and permissions their school has given them.

• Give accurate details, and keep them up to date.
• Keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
• Tell us, or your school, straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
• An account is for one person. Do not share it or use someone else’s.

• The school owns its records, and is responsible for what it puts into Maita, including marks, fees and notes.
• The school is responsible for having the right to hold that information, for getting consent from parents or guardians where the law requires it, and for deciding which staff can see what.
• Report cards, positions and summaries are worked out from what the school entered. The school’s own records remain the official record; if a mark is wrong, the school corrects it.
• When a school stops using Maita, we will give it a copy of its records on request before they are deleted, as our Privacy Policy explains.

Please do not:

• try to see records you are not allowed to see, including another school’s or another family’s;
• change marks, results or payments without authority, or use Maita to cheat in any test or exam;
• post anything unlawful, hateful, threatening, sexual, or that bullies or harasses anyone;
• pretend to be someone else, or send messages to parents that the school has not approved;
• copy, resell or take apart Maita, collect data from it automatically, or try to get around its limits or security;
• upload viruses or anything that could harm Maita or its users.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and we may report unlawful activity to the authorities.

• The AI helper can explain topics, make quizzes and draft lesson plans and report comments. It can also be wrong.
• Check what it produces before relying on it. Teachers remain responsible for material they give to a class.
• AI answers are not professional advice, whether medical, legal, financial or otherwise.
• Each plan includes a daily, weekly and per-session allowance of AI credits, shown in the app. We may change what features cost in credits, and the allowances, to keep Maita fair and affordable. Changes apply from then on.
• AI features may be paused for maintenance, or if our AI provider is unavailable.

• Maita Free costs nothing. Paid plans give a set allowance for a set number of days, shown with the price before you pay.
• Prices are in US dollars unless shown otherwise. A plan starts once payment is confirmed.
• Schools on an institutional plan are billed under their agreement with us, and their members pay nothing.
• If a plan could not be delivered because of a fault on our side, contact us and we will put it right, by restoring the days or a refund.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act [Chapter 14:44] or other Zimbabwean law.

• Maita, its apps, design, name and logo belong to Visyn Technologies (Pvt) Ltd. You may use them only to use Maita.
• You keep ownership of what you upload. You allow us to store, copy and display it only as needed to run Maita for you and your school.
• Make sure you have the right to share anything you upload, such as notes or pictures made by someone else.
• If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Maita without owing you anything.

We work hard to keep Maita available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, and we may change, add or remove features. Where a change affects you significantly, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

Some parts of Maita rely on other companies’ services, such as Google Play, Google sign-in, WhatsApp, SMS networks and our payment provider Paynow. Their own terms also apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for how they run their services.

• You can stop using Maita at any time, and ask us to delete your own account.
• We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or where required by law.
• For school accounts, a school’s agreement with us sets out what happens when it ends, including unpaid fees.

To the fullest extent Zimbabwean law allows:

• Maita is provided as it is and as available.
• We are not responsible for losses caused by wrong information entered by a school or user, by AI answers that were not checked, by events outside our reasonable control, or by indirect losses such as lost profit or opportunity.
• Our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us for Maita.

None of this limits responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for fraud, or your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

You agree to cover losses we suffer because you broke these terms or uploaded content you had no right to share, to the extent the law allows.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems are solved quickly that way. These terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe, and any dispute will be decided by the courts of Zimbabwe, sitting in Harare.

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Maita after that, the new terms apply.
