Official Second Term 2026 Dates

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has confirmed the following dates for the 2026 Second Term:

Schools reopen on Tuesday 5 May 2026. Monday 4 May is a public holiday (Workers’ Day).

What Learners Should Bring on Day One

• All textbooks and stationery from first term
• Updated school fees receipt or payment confirmation
• Second term timetable (issued by the school)
• Any outstanding holiday work or assignments
• Proper school uniform — inspections are conducted on the first day

Fees Payment Deadlines

Most schools require full or 50% fees payment by the end of the first week (9 May 2026). Parents who have not yet paid are encouraged to visit the school bursar’s office or pay via the school’s Maita portal.

Term 2 is the most important term for O-Level and A-Level students — it covers the bulk of the syllabus before November exams. Here is what students should focus on:

1. Review first term work — do not wait for the teacher to revise; read your notes during the first week.
2. Start past paper practice early — ZIMSEC O-Level past papers are available on Maita. Aim for at least two papers per subject per month.
3. Set a study timetable — 2 hours of independent study per day makes a significant difference by November.
4. Use the Maita app — access class resources, submit assignments and track your grades online.
